JB...Shameless Self-Promotion Of Not Eating Shit Food..
When you think of the painting of the "Last Supper" by da Vinci, what is your first thought?
Is it the holy gail? Dan brown. Judas. The crucifixion. The da Vinci Code. Passover. Bread. Interestingly...what you immediately think of could be a great personality test...but I will leave Myers-Briggs to come up with yet another way for them to tell you exactly how you are simply by asking a couple questions and calling it a test.
I wager few individuals thought of portion control. It appears that the more we recreate this masterpiece, the more we feel it need to look like today. This Study illustrates the fact that the plate alone in front of our savior has grown by 66%. Bread...by 23%. In fact, the bible only speaks of bread and wine at the last supper, yet some recreations have added a feast.
The study really says nothing we did not know. Generally people eat too much, so we want "our" masterpieces to reflect our bad habits(wow, if thats not a book in and of itself). But the confusing item was that apparently the consensus was the study was kinda worthless and held no merit. The argument was that we could simply observe todays portion sizes, therefore we know all we need to about obesity. That is all well and good...but that knowledge hasn't really served us well yet. Maybe its time to observe obscure references in the hopes one day we will reverse this downward spiral of eating ourselves right out of existence.
I wager the only people who find a study like this one to be worthless, also view their health to be equally worthless. So much so that living in denial with the majority, is much easier than living relatively alone with the minority.

Funny but Ive never had any thougths on the food in this painting. Ive seen this in person (I must say AMAZING, its actually breath taking) and the first thing that came to my mind was, Wow I cant believe this survived WWII considering most of the church was damaged.

Bread and wine certainly aren't paleo, but if it's what Jesus did then it certainly can't be all bad, right? :)

Kara - I'm totally with you - not sure what's going on w/ me this week, but I haven't been this sore since week 3 of my Practice debut. Today's wkout was rough and then I had the pleasure of my calves cramping up after the wkout. Note to self: if someone (that I won't name) tells you to punch your cramping calf - DON'T DO IT! I managed to drop myself like a sack of potatoes and bring tears to my eyes w/ one rocky balboa'esque punch to the calf!
Mel - good luck! Your hard work shows and I hope you enjoy every minute of the hard work you've put in tomorrow!!

Heather, that's where you went wrong...it should've been a Jersey Shore fist punch to the calf and not a rocky balboa'esque punch. Try it again next time maybe? ha!
I"m with you all on the soreness...my shoulders are RAW! I also have been skimp'n on the fat intake so I know that's why my times have been slack'n also but I'm trying to work on my girlish figure. : )
